'Flatten Image' is a command used in Photshop to flatten different manipulated layers of a digital image to one, the final image. In my installation I built layers in reality covering the architecture of information and  advertising with blank staples of white surfaces.

location: hansaplatz, exit grips-theater, opposite 'hansaplatz' underground station

friday, 26.08.2005 from 12:00 - 18:00 hours and
saturday, 27.08.2005 from 10:00 - 14:00 hours

Katrin Korfmann, scholar of the akademie der künste fine art department, developed the project ‘flatten image’ during her stay in berlin. she will now realize her installation for the public space of hansaplatz on site.
the project ‘flatten image’ relates to the urban architecture of the resident newspaper kiosk. Its entire surface texture will be changed and newly arranged. the outcome of this is an apparently homogeneous field. the viewer only realises that a change has taken place when taking a closer look. a disappearance of the "normal" information that is now hidden underneath the installation.
the berlin born artist Katrin Korfmann lives in amsterdam. her series of temporary installations have been the main focus of her work in recent years.her constructions are integrated into specific locations of urban reality for short periods, evoking a new perception of the image.
